303s High Tech Fabric Guard is strong enough to protect fabrics in the harshest environments outdoors yet safe for the finest fabrics. On fabric convertible tops and marine canvas 303 High Tech Fabric Guard restores lost water repellency and stain repellency to factory new levels. On automotive interiors 303 High Tech Fabric Guard resists soiling, restores water repellency, impedes mildew formation and helps protect against the suns harmful UV rays.
When dry, High Tech Fabric Guard is odorless and will not change the look, feel or breathability of the treated fabric. One 16 oz. bottle of High Tech Fabric Guard is enough to do 75-100 sq. feet. In general, the lighter the fabric the greater the coverage carpeting absorbs more product per square foot than convertible top or marine canvas.
For 303 High Tech Fabric Guard to properly work, the fabric must be thoroughly cleaned and rinsed. All dirt, sweat, lotions and oils of any type, and residuals including un-removed soap or detergent residue, impede High Tech Fabric Guard from properly bonding. Wash the fabric with an appropriate cleaning agent and thoroughly rinse with water. We recommend using 303 Cleaner and Spot Remover for carpet and upholstered surfaces and 303 Convertible Top Cleaner because they rinse residue free, allowing High Tech Fabric Guard to properly bond.
Once the fabric has dried from washing and rinsing, spray High Tech Fabric Guard evenly until the fabric is wet, overlapping spray areas. Test for color fastness before applying to the entire surface. Make sure to use High Tech Fabric Guard in a well ventilated area. High Tech Fabric Guard has a mild odor that completely disappears once it has dried. Immediately wipe up any overspray before it dries. High Tech Fabric Guard is not intended for vinyl, clear vinyl, plastics, rubber, fiberglass or imitation suede.
Dry time is affected by material density, temperature, humidity and moving air and takes between 4 and 72 hours. It is best to apply High Tech Fabric Guard on a warm, hot day. While drying, protect the treated fabric from water completely until dried and cured. This is especially important on convertible tops, as rain or dew can wash away fabric protector that is not fully dried and cured.Even though the fabric is dry to the touch, it still takes a few more hours for High Tech Fabric Guard to fully cure. Allow a few hours after the fabric dries for Fabric Guard to fully cure before use. There is no point in doing a water repellency test until High Tech Fabric Guard has had time to fully cure.
It is better to apply two lighter coats of High Tech Fabric Guard than one heavy coat. A dramatic over application can leave a whitish blush on some colors. This can be fixed by cleaning the fabric and reapplying High Tech Fabric Guard.
Friction is the main degradant to fabrics treated with High Tech Fabric Guard. Longevity of treated fabrics will vary depending upon the friction they receive. Friction can come from getting in and out of your car seats or running your convertible top through the automatic car wash. Proper prepping and application will maximize the longevity of High Tech Fabric Guard. When you notice the fabric not resisting soiling, it is time to reapply High Tech Fabric Guard.
